(Unfinished) History of Troop 208 Ft. Lauderdale
Calvary Chapel Troop 208 Fort Lauderdale was founded in the late 1990's by a group of dads who wanted to create a Christ-centered environment in which their boys could become biblically centered men. They chose to pursue this goal through the platform scouting had to offer as it foundationally embraces the aspects of character building and work ethic through the outdoors.
After Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale agreed to become the troop's charter organization, its mission of helping boys achieve biblical manhood officially began. 2nd Timothy 2:21b was chosen as the troop Bible verse: "he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work." In addition to the scout oath, law, motto, and slogan, Troop 208 continued to grow in size and fulfill the mission it sought to accomplish. It met weekly Thursday evenings at 7:00 p.m. within the Calvary Chapel cafeteria.
